About Hearth @The Empire Room
Michelin-Trained Chef Jack Hancock Pops Up In Ramsgate's Empire Room With Hearth Restaurant
July 2021 will see the opening of Hearth in Ramsgate by Chef Jack Hancock who recently left the fold of Michelin-starred Adam Byatt in London. “Jack’s had a great journey with us and it’s wonderful to see him give it a go. I’m sure the people of Kent will love what he puts on the table.” Byatt says.
Hearth will offer modern British dining, serving seasonal, fresh dishes where local produce takes centre stage. "We want to keep it real and grounded, cooking on the bone and over coals.” Hancock tells us.
He has been working for Adam at Trinity, Upstairs and Bistro Union for three years. Before this he cut his teeth in some of Manchester’s best established restaurants, alongside the likes of Aiden Byrne and Mark Prescott.
James Thomas, owner of The Empire Room, and sister restaurant, Little Ships on Ramsgate’s harbour front, is delighted that Hancock has embraced the opportunity to establish this pop-up. “It's exciting to see the talent from London landing in other parts of the country."
Hearth will pop up in the intimate dining space beneath the Royal Harbour Hotel on Ramsgate’s Westcliff. Spaces are limited, so get in touch to secure your table
Holiday visitors but would certainly revisit when we return. This looks a very important addition to the Ramsgate scene and we wish it well.Beautiful food, thanks and very welcoming.
This is the best meal we have had for a long time. Every dish from the delicate amuse bouche with seaweed powder through to the clever deserts was put together with thought and care. The service was quite slow, but so friendly and given that every plate is prepared freshly, I would not score it down. Well done thank you.
Delighted to have been able to eat at this pop up during my stay in Ramsgate. The menu was exciting and fresh, and expertly prepared. Service was excellent considering the small number of staff. Portion sizes could be smaller given the rich nature of the flavours but all was very enjoyable.
Such a great find! We were lucky to get a table at short notice and had a lovely evening. The food, setting and lovely Lauren taking us through the courses, and keeping us entertained was perfect. Thanks again Jack, we will definitely be seeing you again!
A great night for my wife and I. For that special occasion it's a excellent restaurant.
We have visited Hearth twice in the last few weeks and the food is quite simply outstanding. The atmosphere and service is also superb, really lovely that the chef comes to talk to all of his guests too, great touch. We love Hearth and will no doubt be back again.
Outstanding and quite unexpected
A wonderful meal - the staff and chef were friendly and super efficient. The food was imaginative and perfectly executed
Our evening at Hearth was sublime. As it's a pop up we had lower expectations but were blown away by the food and service. It's a three course set menu which means choosing is easy and there is a free snack at each end of the meal, plus bread - so you can't leave hungry! I had the lobster, veal short-rib and brown butter tart and everything was was just packed with flavour. By far the best food I've eaten in Ramsgate. At £50 per head for food it was incredibly good value and there was a great selection of wines - all well-priced. I do hope the pop up is successful so they can make Hearth into a permanent restaurant. We will be back!
Will definitely be back. Really enjoyed our evening at Hearth. The service was very friendly and welcoming, the food was amazing, and it was great to meet Jack.
Ramsgate is lacking in fine dining restaurants so this was a wonderful pleasure. The service was wonderfully chatty and helpful, without being intrusive. Also was nice to see the chef coming out to discuss his dishes. Would highly recommend Hearth and I will be going back, as the menu changes frequently.
Great welcome and service. Delicious food- always the understandable challenge of a limited menu. We will return when back Ramsgate
Amazing food, service, chef
First class food and service. I've already recommended your restaurant to a friend of mine and you can expect to see him soon.
We had a really lovely meal at Hearth. Service was excellent and very friendly. Small choices but excellent starters and mains. We were both a little disappointed with the desserts though. The mains menu was rather deceiving, fruits de mer was actually sea bass. My wife loves fish but not seafood, luckily the waitress did tell us in time.
Would have been helpful to have a different price structure with the offer of a choice of 2 courses for those that don’t want 3 courses, ie starter/main or main/dessert Also more flexibility for children
Great meal - I have already recommended you to some friends.
I cannot fault any part of the set menu, I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. The staff were lovely too
We really enjoyed the meal and the service was great. Maybe a little quiet music would add to the ambience.
Our meal was outstanding. My salad of tomatoes, lavender, hibiscus and feta was a complete taste bud treat. The fresh fish of the day was cooked perfectly and the puddings were also superb. Thanks too to the waiting staff who went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our meal. It would be 5 stars all round but I think such an innovative space should have great background music to match the food
Gorgeous flavours and fantastic quality. Our waitress was superb - on loan from Little Ships and very luck to have her that evening
We had an absolutely outstanding meal at Hearth, loved the setting and the waiting staff were excellent. Jack’s food is truly fabulous. We will definitely be back.
Fantastic meal, recommended.
What a lovely experience at a great venue. Fantastic food. Attentive service. A real bonus to the Ramsgate food scene.
