Stein Inn, nestled on the shores of Lochbay, overlooks the Outer Hebrides, staring out to sea from the coast of the Waternish peninsula since the 18th century. A pub with a past as testified by the wooden sign above the threshold, where the year 1790 is carved in relief, this is the oldest inn in Skye. A menu focusing on a Taste of Skye" Land meets Sea menu, using local, sustainable produce, authentic, and homemade - lobster should taste of a lobster. Over the past 230 years, the pub witnessed plenty, forms part of a small shoreline settlement -called Stein, designed by engineer , Thomas Telford. Stein inn, whitewashed, interlinked buildings standing proud under dark roof tiles and dormer windows. Plenty to do and see in the area too. A garden with tables and chairs, guests can eat and drink whilst been memorised by the view, palm trees, stunning sunsets, and the northern lights. A family run business - the hands-on owner and welcoming host, Charlie, whose ethos is not only the menu, hospitality, authentic to yourself, a pub with a medley of traditional, modern, quirky personal items from her past travels, childhood, often telling stories. Everyone is welcome, including children and dog friendly. Charlie’s two children play a large part, Clémence her daughter in the holidays with her friends and her young son Jack who can be seen swimming in the Loch opposite with guests. If log-burners, candle lit, quirky decoration is for you. The door is always open - No road is too ling for good company.
