Opened in early 2015, CATCH calls itself a ‘posh modern day neighbourhood fish and chip shop and restaurant’. The Fenwick Road business is on two levels. On the ground floor, the proudly displayed catch of the day is a talking point for diners in the booth seating. On the mezzanine level, the space is decorated with a nautical theme from old ropes to half a boat which is mounted on the wall. The overall feel is informal yet smartly turned out. CATCH would work as well for a date as it would for a fish tea with family. Fresh, sustainable and cooked to order Sourcing from sustainable Scottish fisheries, CATCH cooks all its seafood to order from fresh while the chips are made with potatoes which are peeled daily, fried twice and cooked rapeseed oil. The batter on the showcase haddock, cod and scampi is light and crispy. Other familiar chippie options include the battered Dingwall haggis; the burger topped with smoked bacon and side orders such as the curry sauce. Weekly specials can vary from pan-fried sea bass to grilled lobster.
