We’ve tried Peking duck, prawn dumplings and pork buns up and down the Goldie so that we could round up a bunch of them and send you in the right direction!

Uncle Su turns up the volume on Chinese food. This Star Casino tenant offers a totally glam and totally tasty Chinese food experience, not to mention the freshest seafood around.
There are four menus to choose from. Yum cha is for lunch only, à la carte for lunch and dinner, gluten free, and two types of banquets.
The à la carte menu is chock full of seafood including different crabs, lobster and green lip abalone that can be cooked however you like (Kowloon, steamed?) with a variety of sauces from pepper butter to xo sauce.
For non-seafood lovers, the menu is extensive and innovative; we were tempted by the Braised spare rib in Mok Sek sauce and traditional Szechuan mapo tofu.
Dish Cult’s top pick: Banquet A ($68 each, for at least four people)

Miami Rice is a bit of a Goldie institution, as it’s been around for a long time. It’s also a fun venue with great staff and promises a fun family night out.
The menu is a blend of Chinese, Malaysian and Thai influences. If you’re looking for Malaysian: there’s Kari chicken, Sambal prawns and Rendang beef curry. If it’s winter, perhaps a spicy Kung po will satisfy or maybe a Tom yum soup? For the less spicy at heart, the sour yet sweet Mee siam is an option as is the Chicken with sweet basil.
Vegetarian dishes include satays, curries and hot pots. Noodle lovers are also well catered for: choose from Ho fun with beef and bean sprouts, Mee goreng, Ipoh keow teow (flat rice noodles).
If you’re scooting along the Highway, keep a lookout for it as it’s in the Outrigger Resort and easy to miss!
Dish Cult’s top pick: Singapore chilli tofu ($18.90)
Family-run Lummys has been serving great Chinese fare for decades. People travel to eat here and with good reason.
This is old-fashioned, fill your tummy, Chinese food. We think the Honey chicken, Chow meins and Chinese omelettes are such classics that sometimes that’s just what the heart desires. And there’s that great Aussie classic, the Shandy.
Don’t know what a Shandy is? It’s two Spring rolls, Sweet and sour pork, Chicken and cashews, and Fried rice all on the one plate.
But don’t let us give you the wrong idea. Lummys does more than just Chinese classics. Perhaps someone in your party wants Thai curry, Pad Thai or Singapore noodles? Lummys can accommodate everyone in the family.
Don’t forget to finish with Banana fritters to recapture the nostalgia of Chinese meals past.
Dish Cult’s top pick: Shandy ($19.90)

What’s more genius than locating a yum cha restaurant in a shopping centre? Grand Dynasty in Broadbeach’s Oasis Shopping Centre demonstrates that where there are shoppers, there needs to be delicious food.
Yum cha is the perfect post-shopping meal. Loads of wee bamboo baskets filled with temptations such as Prawn and coriander dumplings, Sticky rice and meat in lotus leaf and BBQ pork buns.
Ignore the dessert cart at your peril; if you’ve not tried Steamed sweet egg custard buns or egg tarts then more fool you. The perfect way to end yum cha and give yourself that needed energy boost to get to the car.
Dish Cult’s top pick: Steamed prawn with chive dumplings ($9.80 for three)

Jasmine Room offers traditional Cantonese food along with a great view over the Broadwater. You’ll find yum cha and banquet options, as well as MSG-free dishes.
We appreciated the two-person banquet – it’s not often two people can share nine, yes nine, dishes. But that’s just the beginning, keep turning the menu pages. After the luxe seafood options, the Jasmine Room has a page of BBQ specialities including Crispy roasted baby pigeon, Pork belly and Char siu.
Perhaps a clay pot is something you’re hankering for; maybe chicken and tofu, or Braised beef brisket, or Salted fish eggplant? You might just need advice from the expert staff.
The Jasmine Room is perfect for date nights, ask for a table at the window.
Dish Cult’s top pick: Peking duck ($73 per person)
