A spotlight on Liverpool's So Salsa
If you thought tapas could only be Spanish, So Salsa in Liverpool has a whole world of global delights to show you!
The family-run restaurant sits on Castle Street, offering quality fresh tapas dishes from cuisines around the world. So if it’s a night of fusion you’re after, then this may just be the spot.
The restaurant exudes a vibrant and eclectic vibe, drawing in both loyal locals and curious visitors. Known for its lively atmosphere, the restaurant is a hub of activity, characterised by its colourful decor, upbeat energy, and exotic flair. The walls are adorned with homely decor, as well as a few pieces that nod to Spain’s cultured history.
So Salsa meticulously curates their buzzing atmosphere with lively music and friendly, inviting staff; leaving everyone feeling welcomed and free to soak up the festive spirit. It’s almost impossible to be feeling down in a place so effervescent.
It’s all about tapas, sangria, and good times at So Salsa, which brings us to their magnificent menu. On the receiving end of rave reviews time and time again, the menu is concise but perfectly executed to bring out the freshness and natural flavours of every ingredient.
Our top picks to start include their pan rustica with toasted ciabatta, garlic mayonnaise & chopped tomatoes, their broccoli and stilton and chorizo croquettes, baby red peppers stuffed with feta, and Gordal olives.
As for the meat section of the menu, their mini chorizos with red wine and honey are unmissable, as well as their homemade meatballs, salt & pepper chicken pancakes, BBQ sticky ribs, and chicken and chorizo with paella. If seafood is more your style, try out the mussels in leek and cider cream, crispy calamari with garlic mayo, teriyaki salmon with garlic & chilli pak choi, or their gambas pil pil with king prawns and fresh bread.
And for those more vegetarian-inclined, you can’t go wrong with an order of padron peppers with chilli flakes and rock salt, cajun corn ribs, halloumi fingers with a honey dressing, the honey goat’s cheese with red onion jam and a walnut crumb, their classic caesar salad, or the bang bang cauliflower with sweet and spicy mayo.
How about a sweet ending? It’s too hard to pass by an order of their stuffed churros, crispy and warm filled with chocolate and dusted in cinnamon sugar. Or perhaps their triple chocolate brownie with cream and the chef’s special cheesecake of the day.
The tapas are reasonably priced, ranging from around £6 – £10 on average; however, if you’re in the mood for a few lunchtime tapas, you can get three plates for £19 Mondays to Thursdays from 12pm to 4pm. Divine! The team is also dedicated to catering for gluten-free and vegan diners where possible, so everyone can enjoy the menu.
To whet the whistle, we always opt for their peach sangria – perfect if you’re looking to try something new and fruity. Otherwise, they have all your favourite beers, wines, cocktails, and spirits ready, as well as some seasonal specials to keep your eyes peeled for.
For an exciting, lively meal out with great food, exceptional service, and a little something for everyone, So Salsa has you covered. You’ll find them at 2 Castle Street, Liverpool, Merseyside L2 0NA. Be sure to book your table on Dish Cult for the best seats in the house.
