The UK's best bars and restaurants for the King's Coronation
Brits this year celebrate the King’s Coronation on 6th May. Conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the service will reflect the Monarch’s role today and look towards the future, while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry. On Sunday, 7th May, a special Coronation Concert will be staged and broadcast live at Windsor Castle, while on Monday, 8th May, members of the public will be rewarded with an extra bank holiday to continue the celebrations. With this in mind, we’ve put together a special guide for the King’s Coronation weekend, helping you discover some of the UK’s best venues to celebrate and mark this momentous and historical occasion as one to remember.

Hidden away in the quiet, beautiful village of Timble, nestling in the stunning Washburn Valley, The Timble Inn is a romantic Grade II listed 18th century coaching inn with foundations dating back to 1200 AD. Now family-owned, for the past three years The Timble Inn has been awarded a 5 Star Silver Award rating and 2 culinary Rosettes by the AA. There are nine rooms available if you want to take advantage of the three day weekend, while the restaurant serves fresh dishes made with the finest quality, locally sourced ingredients where possible. Led by a classically trained head chef, the kitchen is passionate and full of talent.

The menu features traditional Scottish fayre with a modern twist and is fully complemented by an extensive sommelier-selected wine list – perfect for choosing the right glass for you so you can raise it in toast to the King’s Coronation.
Launched in 2018, the Three Eagles is a popular bar and grill situated in the heart of Llangollen. Situated in a striking former 18th century coaching inn, spread over three floors, the restaurant underwent a substantial refurbishment prior to opening and is now known as one of the best eateries in North Wales. The Three Eagles team pride themselves on provenance, with a clear philosophy dedicated to using only the freshest ingredients from carefully selected farms and suppliers – something our new King is passionate about himself, making this a very apt choice for the Coronation.

Their emphasis is simple fresh food using local produce where possible, bringing a variety of Marine Stewardship Council approved fresh fish and as a member of the Scottish Beef Club, quality dry aged field to plate traceable Angus. Book a table for the King’s Coronation weekend and you’ll have the choice of an a la carte menu or daily blackboard specials, offering you a variety of fresh dishes for the day.
