Liverpool's fondue spots

Fondue is traditionally a Swiss melted cheese and wine dish served in a communal pot over a portable stove heated with a candle or oil. There are four commonly prepared types of fondue; cheese fondue, chocolate fondue, oil fondue (also known as meat fondue), and broth fondue. You can find a mix of the different types of fondue in and around Liverpool’s restaurants. Here’s where to go looking, and booking!

The Ship is as much the local’s local as it is the visitor’s retreat, offering the perfect afternoon stop, evening out or weekend escape. The hearty, homemade menu is bursting with well known British classics as well as some creative seasonal specials. The team of chefs use all fresh and where possible local produce to ensure quality and freshness in every dish, and hopefully give you a flavour of the local area. On the light bites section of the menu you’ll find a creamy Italian burrata served on toasted rosemary focaccia with fresh rocket, nduja fondue, gremolata and semi dried tomatoes. And yes, it is as delicious as it sounds!

The Quarter

The Quarter exterior

The Quarter has been family-run since its opening in 2003, and this shines through in the service, food and atmosphere. A buzzy, vibrant restaurant and café, set amongst the cobbled streets of Liverpool’s Georgian Quarter, steeped in history. Located on Falkner Street, near the Anglican Cathedral, The Quarter is in a beautiful location and is within walking distance from the biggest cathedral in England and the 5th biggest in Europe. The menu caters to everyone, serving a range of pizza, pasta, grilled meats, and salads but their Christmas specials include a classic fondue, so if you’re a cheese lover, this is the place for you!
