Glasgow might not instantly prompt images of al fresco dining – Scotland isn’t home to the warmest of climates after all – but when the sun does make an appearance, you’ll bet Glaswegians know where to head! If you’re on the lookout for an outdoor brunch, a rooftop cocktail with some snacks or fancy a decadent burger in a sprightly beer garden, we’ve got you covered.
The Finnieston is a real highlight in Glasgow’s trendiest district; focusing on sustainably sourced seafood, the restaurant is home to a sun-soaked terrace throughout the summer months. The gin cocktails are pretty special too, so if you’re looking for somewhere to laze back and enjoy some good food and drinks in the fresh air, look no further. Small plates include King Prawns with mango and chilli, Moules Mariniere and Seafood Tacos – and with each plate coming in at under £10, The Finnieston has certainly a lot going for it.
Wee Paree brings a touch of Parisian charm to Glasgow with its chic, spacious terrace. This venue offers a sophisticated yet relaxed setting where you can enjoy French-inspired dishes. The menu features classics like croque monsieur and charcuterie boards, paired with a carefully curated selection of wines and cocktails. The stylish outdoor seating area, combined with the friendly and attentive service, makes Wee Paree an excellent choice for those seeking a refined dining experience in the open air.
This one’s for the vegans – during summer Mono spills out onto King’s Court, the perfect destination for catching some rays and partaking in some people-watching. Go for the signature ‘Tofish and Chips’ or branch out and try something new like the completely meat-free ‘Roast Beef Seitan’. If it’s something lighter you’re after, an array of sandwiches, salads and soups are on offer each day. Beware however, outdoor seating is highly coveted at Mono: if you manage to bag a seat, you’ll bet you want to keep hold of it.
Brunch in the sun? Yes please! Both branches of the Singl-end have outdoor seating, which is great news because the big breakfasts with all the trimmings aren’t to be missed! Prices are reasonable – most plates coming in below £10 – and there’s truly something for everyone. If you’re in the mood for something sweet, opt for the French Toast with maple syrup or Vegan Granola. If something more savoury takes your fancy, then try the Veggie or N’Duja Croque’s – both complete with tonnes of cheddar and Emmental cheese. Sounds like the perfect way to spend a weekend if you ask us!
Eusebi Deli offers an Italian-inspired al fresco dining experience right in the heart of Glasgow’s West End. Known for its friendly and outgoing staff, this spot provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere with an emphasis on fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The outdoor seating area is perfect for a leisurely brunch or lunch, where you can enjoy dishes like wild mushroom fettuccine with truffle or the famous freshly baked pastries — we love the ricotta and lemon cannoli!
Without doubt the Radisson Hotel’s Red Sky Bar is the city’s ultimate roof terrace. Conveniently located in trendy Finnieston, the bar is a must visit on a sunny day. There’s lots of exciting drinks on offer and a whole host of bar nibbles to enjoy alongside them. Book a table here early on and spend the rest of the day gazing over the city with good food, good drinks and a fantastic atmosphere.
