Winter is coming, but we have a dish guaranteed to ward off that impending chill in the most delicious of ways…

It’s a chickpea curry from Sydney’s Indian street food specialists Chatkazz and it comes with a tasty extra perk.

Is that the full name?

You’ll want to order the “Chhole bhatura” on the menu.

Where do you get it?

Chatkazz, Shop 4-6/14-20 Station Street, East Harris Park NSW 2150 (with locations also in Bella Vista and even Adelaide)

Why is it a winner?

So we told you it was a chickpea curry but we didn’t tell you this rich and deeply-flavoured dish from Northern India comes with a side of ultra-fluffy, super-puffy fried bread which takes everything to the next level. But if you’re Indian, you probably already knew because “chhole” means chickpeas and “bhatura” is the name for that bread, and this is no ordinary bread! It’s crispy on the outside and heavenly soft on the inside. Dip the bread into the curry and balance the subtle spices with a bite of the aromatic green chilli, red onion and Indian pickle for freshness and acidity. With this killer combo on your must-eat list, you’ve got the right weapon to fight off those winter blues.

Anything else to know?

Chatkazz specialises in street food from all over India, so not only will you find dishes such as the Chhole bhatura of the North and Panipuri, puffed up and deep-fried balls stuffed with various fillings, from the West, you’ll also find the Dosa, Indian crepes made with rice flour, and Idli, savoury steamed rice cakes, of the South. All of this makes it well worth a visit to Harris Park!
