You might know him as a star of Gogglebox, but Jad Nehmetallah has just opened Misc. in historic Parramatta Park.

The established restaurateur, who was previously an owner of The Picnic at Burwood, is promising something for everyone at this new multi-purpose restaurant which has a Mediterranean menu and a focus on sharing.

“We’re sophisticated, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. The focus is on the food and what it means to different people. It’s in my blood to bring people together; to create family, fun and full stomachs. Now I’m doing it on a larger scale,” he said.

The 300-seat venue, designed by renowned interior designer Nic Graham, includes courtyard and terrace dining, as well as an events space. The idea is that you can do everything here from pop in for a casual breakfast and enjoy after work drinks to long boozy lunches and even wedding feasts. There is a separate menu for breakfast and lunch, with dinner service planned for November.

The menu, a collaboration between Executive Chef Sebastian Geray and restaurant consultant Joel Bennetts, is not confined to one particular country, and ranges from South American arepa for breakfast to king prawns and barramundi for lunch.

Sebastian wants Misc. to be a casual and fun place with excellent food.

“Get comfy, have a laugh, and enjoy a communal and social experience with delectable food as a highlight,” he said.

The hope is that the riverside restaurant becomes something of a community hub for Western Sydney with the last word going to Jad (which would be no surprise to his Gogglebox buddies Sarah Marie and Matty):

“We want you to come in, embrace the surroundings, listen, eat, drink, share, pour, break (flat)bread – it’s what Misc. is all about.”
