A spotlight on Glasgow's Strip Joint
In the vibrant neighbourhood of Finnieston, you’ll stumble upon Strip Joint – a not-your-average cocktail and pizza bar.
It’s a lively hotspot known for its eclectic mix of gourmet pizza, innovative cocktails, and epic live music. Strip Joint is family-friendly (with their ‘Kids Make Your Own Pizza’ menu being a huge hit), affordable, and simply delicious. Come take a look at the laid-back atmosphere and community-feel of the restaurant.
The history of Strip Joint is intertwined with the resurgence of Finnieston as one of Glasgow’s trendiest areas. Once an industrial district, Finnieston has transformed into a cultural hub filled with independent shops, restaurants, and bars.
The bar is situated in a building that retains much of its original industrial charm, which has been carefully preserved and enhanced to create a distinctive venue that pays homage to the area’s past while offering contemporary comforts and bringing new life to the area. Conveniently located just a five-minute walk from the SSE Hydro Arena, The SEC Events Campus, and The Armadillo, it’s a great spot to start or end the night.
Inside, the venue plays with a stylish blend of rustic and contemporary design elements. Exposed brick walls and industrial-style lighting fixtures create a cosy yet edgy ambiance, while the furniture is a mix of comfortable booths and high tables, perfect for both intimate gatherings and larger parties. Artwork from local artists adorns the walls, adding a touch of Glasgow’s creative spirit. The bar area, with its sleek countertops and well-stocked shelves, is the focal point of the room, inviting patrons to watch as mixologists craft their cocktails.
Strip Joint’s concept revolves around three main pillars: quality food, exceptional drinks, and an engaging social atmosphere.
The bar takes pride in its artisanal pizzas, which are made with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients and cooked to perfection in a traditional stone oven. The pizza menu features classics like Margherita and Pepperoni, as well as more inventive options like the Good Golly Miss Molly with pepperoni, mozzarella, maple honey, and house pizza sauce; the Lucille with steak strips, garlic mushrooms, mozzarella, and house pizza sauce; and the Dizzy Miss Lizzy with goats cheese, garlic mushrooms, caramelised red onion, mozzarella, and house pizza sauce.
Aside from the generously topped pizzas, you can add on sides including chicken wings with a number of sauces, mac n cheese loaded skinny fries, fried chicken katsu fries, loaded nachos, beef, chicken, and veggie burgers, beef or veggie hotdogs, every kind of fry, and a tonne of dipping sauces. Strip Joint has a number of gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options; they truly are the definition of ‘there’s something for everyone’.
Complementing the food menu is an extensive list of cocktails, as well as a wide range of draught and bottled beers, and their signature Innis & Gunn lager fresh from the tank.
You won’t find a cocktail over £9.50 on the menu – a welcomed price limit in 2024. Menu highlights include the raspberry negroni with Portobello Road gin, Campari, Martini Rosso, and raspberry liqueur; the Bikini Killer with Don Q white rum, mango puree, coconut syrup, pineapple juice, and lime; and the Eagle Eye with Dead Man’s Fingers cherry rum, Disaronno Amaretto, lemon, and sugar. They also have all the classics like fruit margaritas, white wine sangria, coconut daiquiris, and whisky sours.
Live music is a cornerstone of the Strip Joint experience, with local bands and solo artists regularly performing to an enthusiastic crowd, covering a range of genres from jazz and blues to indie rock. Strip Joint is keeping the vibes well and truly alive in the venue, while also supporting Glasgow’s thriving music scene. On weekends, they also often host themed nights and special events, so keep your eyes peeled on their socials for those!
