A spotlight on Belfast's Hoose Bistro

Drawing on more than 30 years in the hospitality industry, Chris and Sarah founded Hoose Bistro with a clear mission: to offer exceptional food at reasonable prices within an inviting atmosphere. Hoose Bistro embodies this vision flawlessly, giving diners a home away from home.

Nestled into a corner of east Belfast, Hoose radiates warmth and welcoming vibes from the get-go. The steeped history of Hoose reflects the heart and soul behind the venue – the bistro is more than just a place to eat; it is a place where memories are made.

The team at Hoose is dedicated to making your experience a memorable one, through their friendly service and ultra-cosy atmosphere. The owners emphasise the importance of sourcing fresh, local ingredients, ensuring that every dish served is of the highest standard and in a homely, non-pretentious matter.

Inside, Hoose has a charming blend of rustic and contemporary elements. The space features warm, earthy tones and wooden accents, creating a cosy and inviting atmosphere. Soft lighting enhances the intimate feel, with little details, including local artwork and fresh flowers, adding a personal touch. The vibe is relaxed and stylish, perfect for everything from casual meals to special occasions.

The menu mirrors a dinner party soiree, with classic dishes and some delicious twists, alongside exclusive wines and delicious cocktails, followed by your favourite desserts. Think Wednesday steak night, Sunday roasts, an entirely dedicated vegetarian and vegan menu, and something for the kids.

Their traditional evening menu features elevated favourites, along the likes of pan-seared scallops with mango and chilli salsa, goats cheese bon bone with orange and chilli chutney and candied walnuts, duck breast with duck rillette, a sweet cherry gel, and chocolate oil, slow-roasted pork fillet with confit garlic and chive mash and pan jus, and chicken liver pate with spiced apricot chutney and garlic and herb butter.

They also have a devoted steak section on the menu, with cut options including ribeye, sirloin, or fillet, all served with hand-cut chips, French-fried onion, tomato salad, and a brandy pepper cream. Simply divine for the steak lovers!

For dessert, you can’t go past the adored sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel sauce, or the indulgent white chocolate and raspberry torte with chantilly cream.

To whet the whistle, what’s a dinner party without wine? Hoose has a range of curated bottles, hailing from across the globe, including whites from New Zealand and Portugal, sparkling from Italy, rosés from California and France, and reds from Argentina and Australia. The friendly team is more than happy to help you match your meal to the perfect tipple.

For those less wine-inclined, Hoose also whips up incredibly refreshing cocktails, as well as all your favourite beers, spirits, and non-alcoholic drinks.

For home comforts away from home, Hoose Bistro is top of the list. Exceptional elevated homestyle meals, exciting and adventurous wines, and service with a smile are what they’re all about!

You’ll find Hoose at 52 Upper Newtownards Road, Belfast BT4 3EL, open Wednesday to Sunday. Be sure to book your table on Dish Cult here.
