London's must-try pastries and where to find them

Be it sweet or savory, we love a pastry here at Dish Cult. If you’re anything like us (meaning weak for a delicious, warm, buttery croissant) you’ve come to the right place. Here we have rounded up some of the best pastries in London just for you. Some of these croissant serving venues even come with fresh flowers, local produce, art prints, bakery schools and brunch. What better way to spend a chill Sunday morning?

Sweet Boulangerie & Patisserie
cuisinesCafe

We have been visiting Sweet Boulangerie since 2014 for what we believe to be hands down the best almond chocolate croissant we have EVER tried. And trust us, we have tried A LOT. Found in the gorgeous Exmouth Market, this is a little pastry heaven found in north central London. With a simple, relaxed seating area, you can either hang out with croissants and fresh orange juice, or take a load of pastries back home with you.

Becky Blooms Flowers
cuisinesCafe

The most jam-packed perfect Sunday hangover almond croissant you will ever have, surrounded by gorgeous flowers and devoured in the sun. At Becky Blooms you can expect a massive sugar hit from this independent, female-run Fulham venue! The small team is always so welcoming, guaranteeing good, local vibes. It’s worth noting Becky Blooms is a petite venue, with the inside full of flowers, so seating is only available outside. We recommend visiting in warmer weather, or for those who don’t mind potential rain and hibernating under the massive umbrellas.

WatchHouse Seven Dials
cuisinesCafe, Brunch

WatchHouse is an ideal brunch venue, still in central, but surprisingly easier to find a table. With good coffee and outdoor as well as indoor seating, we highly recommend the delicious cinnamon buns! Not only does WatchHouse serve some killer avocado toast, delicious porridge, and croissants, you can also find New Zealand created Lamington cakes. If you haven’t had one of these delicious square sweet cakes before, we reckon it’s time you should!

E5 Bakehouse is a super popular east London venue, offering up some of the best sourdough in town. With a bakery school, local produce and cafe, any bread or pastry fans will not be disappointed here! It’s found under a railway arch and we love the vibe here – a proper London venue.

The Toast Rack Bakehouse
cuisinesCafe

There really is something for everyone here at The Toast Rack Bakehouse. From pizza to bread and stunning Pastel De Natas, we cannot get enough. Toast Rack’s deli serves some of the best sausage rolls in town, ready to take home, as well as delicious crowd-pleasing chocolate croissants.

Lumberjack Cafe is a cracking spot for not only brilliant coffee, but killer pastries, cakes and sustainable, locally produced goods. From local honey and quirky art prints to organic soap, we are big fans of these guys. Either grab and go, or head downstairs for the super chilled, wooden seating area. An ideal space to work from as well as grabbing some snacks or ceramic treats to take home.

You may have already heard about Layla Bakery, or it may have popped up on your Instagram feed like it did for us. But this Portobello Road bakery is PASTRY HEAVEN. Open seven days a week, you can find incredible sandwiches, cracking alternative bread – nettle focaccia anyone? – as well as insane sweet and savoury pastries. Ranging from Wild Garlic, Feta and Black Olive buns, to Guinness, Chocolate and Hazelnut Pain Suisse! INSANE. Seriously, if you’re in the Notting Hill area, you have to visit!

Honey & Co. Daily is the new deli, bakery and café from Honey & Co. founders Sarit Packer and Itamar Srulovich, on Store Street, Bloomsbury. The large light-filled space is divided into two sections, with a dedicated deli-takeaway area at the entrance – offering coffees, pastries, cakes and lunches to go – and a casual 40-seater dining room, with a more substantial eat-in menu, located beyond. The Honey & Co. Daily offering has a strong leaning on baked goods, all made on site to co-founder Sarit Packer’s renowned recipes; the menu includes Middle Eastern bakes such as pastries, sandwiches, lachma, cakes and breads, alongside Middle Eastern salads, shakshukas and dips.
