The food at Turtle Bay is inspired by laid back beach shacks and street vendors of the Caribbean. From fragrant jerk marinades to slowly simmered curries, there’s something for everyone. It’s not just about spice either, here it’s all about FLAVOUR; the chefs and kitchen staff spend months crafting each dish until it tastes just right. And just like a beach shack in the Caribbean, the food is just the beginning. Wash down with a cocktail (or two), sit back and be transported to a world where conversations and reggae beats flow long into the night.

Buzzrocks is a Hulme institution, having graced the pages of national newspapers. The restaurant’s story is one that involves the owners (Mr and Mrs Buzzrock) grafting for 30 years and taking their outstanding Caribbean cuisine from a trailer in a car park to their own restaurant with dedicated regulars. Mr Buzzrock has been using the same recipe for his legendary jerk chicken from the start, served with rice and peas and the most unbelievable gravy. Not one to miss.

The Drop Bar Café, home of the Henchbox, can be found in Chorlton, South Manchester. Like other places on this list, the Drop Bar Café offers customers more than just exquisite food. It provides customers with a unique and loving atmosphere, serving a piece of Caribbean food history to everyone visiting. Come here to try the Hench Drop box too, it’s definitely worth having! Anyone who has been down Chorlton Road will know exactly what Kool Runnings is. It’s a massive food truck serving up some of the best Caribbean cuisine this side of the Atlantic – always fresh, always hot and always super tasty. Run by father and son, Aval and Dominic, the duo has been dishing out top-quality jerk chicken, curried goat, rice and peas for quite some time, and have become an institution in the area. The standard order is jerk chicken, rice and peas, pattie and steamed veg, and it has to be fully drenched in jerk gravy. If you’ve never been before, they do all sorts – curry chicken and goat, pepper steak, plantain, Guinness punch, and it’s all made fresh on the day for queuing punters. The food here is so good it’s even got celebrity fans in Tyson Fury and Usain Bolt!
