Chotto Matte in Manchester
Chotto Matte has announced the opening of its first UK location outside of London and will be occupying the spectacular 20,000sq ft rooftop at the St Michael’s development in Manchester.
Chotto Matte Manchester is set to open to the public in Summer 2024 and will include a rooftop terrace, overlooking the city’s historic Town Hall and boast an interior design scheme by internationally renowned, award-winning architect and designer, Andy Martin.
Founder and Owner of Chotto Matte, Kurt Zdesar said: “We are delighted to continue our expansion plans and allow more people to experience the very best of authentic innovative Nikkei cuisine across the UK.”
The Chotto Matte concept is set for a global expansion journey, bringing its signature Nikkei experience to various aspirational cities across the US and beyond. Confirmed upcoming sites include the likes of San Francisco, Los Angeles, Nashville and Philadelphia, in addition to Manchester, as well as Doha and Riyadh in the Middle East.
Chotto Matte first landed in the UK in 2013, with founder Kurt Zdesar bringing the vibrant spirit of Tokyo and the taste of Lima to the heart of Soho. It soon became a staple on London’s restaurant scene, mirroring its eclectic environment and continuously seeking creative influence through art and diversity.
The star dishes of the Soho branch include the likes of Yellowtail “Nikkei Sashimi” with jalapeño, coriander and yuzu truffle soy, Wagyu Sirloin with Truffle Teriyaki sauce and Black Cod Aji Miso with chilli miso marinade, yuzu, and chives.
