How to celebrate Oktoberfest in Liverpool
Oktoberfest, an annual festival which originated in Munich, Germany, is held over a two-week period every year. Beginning in 1810, celebrating the marriage of the prince of Bavaria, Oktoberfest is now a GLOBAL excuse to dance on tables, drink steins and eat traditional Bavarian food, and you can do all these things in the heart of Liverpool too. We’ve compiled a list of places that bring the traditional Oktoberfest to Liverpool.
At Ten Streets Social, people come together to enjoy delicious comfort food and crafty beers, much like Oktoberfest. It’s a small, family-run business located opposite the Baltic Market, where the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, showcasing the best Liverpool has to offer in terms of booze, hospitality and food! Come here during October for the spirit of Oktoberfest and have some fun!
We have included Red Dog Saloon in our guide because of its delicious BBQ, hickory, smoky and generally delicious meat platters and as we all know, Bavaria is known for its wide selection of meat dishes. The huge range of meats such as smoked beef ribs, brisket and chili hotdogs leaves you spoilt for choice, and although it may not be your stereotypical Bavarian food, this place serves the best bratwurst style sausage, not to mention a lot of draft beers for good measure.
Even though this isn’t the traditional Oktoberfest vibe, Bar Hütte encompasses all the things that we love about the traditional bier festival! Think steins, bratwurst and lederhosen! Escape the winter months in this alpine haven, where you can sip on festive-themed drinks, book your very own private karaoke hütte, and soak up that party atmosphere, just like they used to do in 1810.
Liverpool’s very own, unique Love Lane Brewery is located near the indie Baltic Triangle. If you love German and Bavarian inspired beers, then this is the place for you. In true Oktoberfest fashion, you can try a range of different drafts, bottles and tins here. No steins sadly, but you can still get a taste of Oktoberfest from the heart of Liverpool.
Bundobust is a renowned Indian-inspired street food restaurant however – bear with us – it also serves an extensive range of delicious drafts that are inspired from beers from around the world, including Bavaria, where Oktoberfest originated. See what we did there? It also serves AMAZING street food. Although not German inspired, you can still get the Oktoberfest vibe with this delicious grub.
