London’s Sunday lunch offering has become much more special as Chef Joshua Hunter has now added a Sunday roast option to the menus at Kew’s favourite neighbourhood restaurant, Hawthorn.

Hawthorn has launched a very impressive three course Sunday roast menu with a range of exquisite starters. Diners can choose from incredible options such as St Austell Mussel Chowder with smoked eel croquettes and lovage emulsion or the sublime Terrine of Confit Duck Leg, Rabbit, Middle White Pork and Armagnac Prunes with roast garlic chutney and toasted brioche.
The main event is a real showstopper, with the Roast 28 Day Aged Hereford Beef Rump the absolute star. Cut with delicate precision and cooked to genuine perfection, the beef nothing short of exquisite.
Roast potato aficionados will understand what makes a seriously good ‘roastie’ and will no doubt appreciate the care that’s gone into these. They are a dream! Perfectly crisp on the outside, with a stunning golden-brown colour, and fluffy on the inside, these beef fat roast potatoes are a match made in heaven with the red wine gravy that’s taken days to cook until ready to serve.
Add Cavolo Nero, truffled cauliflower cheese (stop it!), and crushed swedes and carrots and we will argue that this might be one of the best Sunday roasts in London!

We’re firm believers that there are different compartments in the body for desserts, meaning there is always room.
The Tiramisu here is light and full of balanced flavour, while the Warm Vanilla and Blood Orange Doughnut is super indulgent if you want to push the boat out.
Chocolate lovers, look no further than the Caramel Chocolate and Hazelnut Crunch Bar, while the crème de la crème has to be the Forced Rhubarb Crumble Soufflé.

Chef Joshua Hunter ensures that only the best predominantly British seasonal ingredients are used in the restaurant, and sources the highest quality, sustainable meat from HG Walter.
If you’re out on a big family day out at Kew Gardens, children are also well catered for at Hawthorn, with a carefully crafted kids’ menu offering a smaller version of the roast. If that’s not quite to their taste though, never fear! The menu also includes well-loved favourites such as Cod Goujons with chips and tartare sauce and can be topped off with Chocolate Brownies and Vanilla Ice Cream for dessert.
Having been open for less than a year, Hawthorn has already been included in the Michelin Guide and The Good Food Guide’s 100 Best Local Restaurants.
