A guide to brunch in Ireland
Breakfast might be the most important meal of the day, but brunch is definitely the most fun. Not quite breakfast but too early for lunch, the brunch meal has become a weekend staple in recent years. Whether you’re making it a bottomless boozy one or a quiet catchup one, it’s always the ideal way to kickstart any day. To celebrate the most popular meal of the day, we’re taking a look at Ireland’s best places for brunch.
Overlooking the canal of Harold’s Cross, Southbank is a friendly neighbourhood cafe serving up leisurely breakfasts and indulgent brunches. The dog-friendly venue offer an all-day menu including scrambled eggs with feta cheese and lime creme fraiche on toasted sourdough, pancakes with hokey pokey butter and crispy bacon, avocado toast with smokey tomato sauce, and the classic full Irish, as well as plenty of toasted sandwiches, fresh fruit and yoghurt options, and a wide range of fresh pastries. Opt in for a mimosa set for 2 alongside your morning coffee to kickstart your day!
There’s nothing better than a European breakfast, and Nine in Wicklow is serving up just that! The French cafe-bistro offers an all-day menu with the likes of fresh berry French toast with vanilla cream, truffled wild mushrooms on sourdough toast, corned beef and potato hash with hollandaise sauce, and a chorizo breakfast burrito with all the trimmings. Add on a cup of coffee and perhaps a mimosa if you’re feeling cheeky, and enjoy your trip to France at Nine!
