Winter venues in Ireland
Ireland is home to some of the best bars and restaurants that thrive in winter. Whether that’s because of their warm service, seasonal menus or cosy atmospheres – or all of the above – the following venues are some of the best in the country this winter.
Rosato’s is a cosy traditional Irish bar serving restaurant-quality bar food. Serving an Irish/Italian menu, this is a family-friendly spot with a great atmosphere and a warm welcome to all. The homemade steak burger is a real winner, while vegans will love the falafel burger. Two dishes we love in winter though are the beef lasagne and the Rosato’s Hot Pot, which features braised beef and vegetables topped with sliced potato.
West Restaurant

West is a modern take on a classic – a contemporary riff on a San Fran-style club restaurant. Beautifully lit, flattering and gleaming, with a sweet champagne bar, cosy booths and smooth dark wood, West is a proper restaurant – a grown-up room and a reminder of why some things in life are too good to change. This place is all about innovative cooking, outstanding wines, artisan products, and locally sourced earthy ingredients. The sommelier’s wine list is justifiably famous, winning The Best Wine List in Ireland and World Wine Spectator awards of excellence over and over again. The wine collection is on display throughout the restaurant and the Champagne Bar serves up to 20 different wines and bubbles by the glass.
The Treehouse Bar & Restaurant

Situated at the starting point of the Wild Atlantic Way and the Inishowen 100, The Treehouse provides quality locally sourced food at a reasonable price. Expect hearty options from the grill such as the Fifty Fifty: escalope of chicken and 100% Irish 5oz sirloin with creamy mash, red onion marmalade and pepper sauce.

This multi award-winning restaurant is located on John Street in Dingle town, a small picturesque fishing town on the west coast of Ireland. Westenra Arms Hotel is located in the centre of Monaghan Town, situated on the Diamond. The Westenra is a well established family-run hotel, which was taken over by the McEnaney’s in 2003. The menu’s created by Head Chef Martin Beggan and his team of highly qualified trained chefs, who aim to source and use local produce where possible. The beef is 100 % Hereford and when cooked to your liking it’s second to none. Expect a wide selection of poultry, seafood and seasonal dishes to cater for all discerning palates.
The Old Bank

The Old Bank’s a modern Irish restaurant that proudly honours the unrivalled produce grown, reared, fished and foraged on the beautiful land and waters of Waterford and Ireland. There’s an Italian influence on the menu with pizzas and pasta dishes, as well as delicious mains such as the succulent Roast Breast of Irish Chicken with roast courgettes and ribbons, macerated pinot grapes and marsala jus.

Barberstown Castle has two dining areas, including the fabulous Garden Bar which serves morning pastries, tea and coffee, lunch and evening food. It’s an ideal spot to catchup with friends and family this winter. Littles ones are welcome too, so you can bring the kids and know that the friendly staff will make you all feel very welcome.
