A spotlight on Belfast's EDŌ

Looking for your next night out in the heart of Belfast? Look no further than EDŌ, bringing together the essence of Mediterranean and modern European dining so you may just feel like you’re on holiday.

The name EDŌ, derived from the Spanish word “to eat,” sets the tone for what the restaurant aims to deliver — a warm and inviting experience centred on the joy of food and sharing a meal together. This philosophy is deeply embedded in the restaurant’s story, which focuses on simplicity, high-quality ingredients, and the art of sharing dishes that cater to a wide range of tastes.

EDŌ’s interior strikes a balance between modern elegance and rustic charm, making it both stylish and comfortable. The space features exposed brick walls and warm wooden accents, which add a cosy, earthy feel. Ambient lighting creates an intimate atmosphere perfect for relaxed dining, while sleek, contemporary furnishings add a touch of sophistication.

The open kitchen design invites you to feel a part of the action, offering a behind-the-scenes view of the cooking process. You have the option to take a seat at the open kitchen and revel in the buzz and fast pace of a busy service as get served by the chefs themselves or immerse yourself in the vibrant, upbeat ambiance of the contemporary restaurant setting where the focus is more on the conversations at the table.

The concept at EDŌ revolves around the idea of social dining. The menu is designed for sharing, encouraging diners to explore a variety of dishes together and try a little taste of everything. Small plates dominate the menu, reflecting a blend of flavours from across Spain, Italy, and beyond. From fresh seafood to cured meats and rustic breads, the offerings at EDŌ embrace the Mediterranean tradition of communal meals. This approach creates a relaxed and informal atmosphere, making the restaurant a popular spot for both casual gatherings and special occasions.

Diners can start with cold plates like charcuterie boards featuring a mix of meats and cheeses, or warm up with dishes such as octopus served with chorizo & tomato. Our go-to favourites always include their pil pil prawns with ciabatta, the smoked sardines with chilli & garlic oil, their chicken thigh in white wine sauce served with orzo, and the chilli & fennel meatballs in a tomato fondue, topped with parmesan.

Wines, beers, spirits, and cocktails are the go, with a cocktail menu and a curated wine list featuring a number of European bottles (we also simply can’t go past the white sangria!). All your favourite cocktails are available, as well as  more bespoke tipples such as the mango chilli kick, a blueberry caipirinha, a peaches and cream vodka cocktail, and their house sour that changes with the season.

Whether you’re a local or a visitor, EDŌ provides a space where good food, good company, and a good atmosphere come together seamlessly. With their very personable chef’s kitchen counter, as well as more intimate tucked-away nooks in the restaurant, this is the spot for every kind of occasion.

You’ll find EDŌ at 3 Upper Queen Street, Belfast BT1 6FB. Be sure to secure your table right here on Dish Cult.
