A spotlight on Edinburgh's Little Rascal

Looking to broaden your wine knowledge? Or perhaps you’re an aficionado looking for likened minds? Little Rascal certainly knows a thing or two about wine, and the friendly neighbourhood bistro is a welcoming spot for newcomers and experts. Found in the residential suburbs of Corstorphine, Little Rascal entails exactly what a neighbourhood wine bar and bistro should be.

The wine bar is stylish and chic, with sleek wooden touches and an airy flow. The storefront looks out onto the road, flooding the space with natural lighting and allowing for plenty of people-watching as you sip away. Take a seat at the high-top tables for an up close and personal look at the wine walls, or slink away to the benched tables for a more intimate encounter. Either way, you’ll have a full 360 on the buzzing little space to drink in the atmosphere.

Operating as a bottle shop alongside the bar, you’ll find the staff extremely knowledgeable about their catalogue of natural wines – as well as being able to take your favourite drop home!

Naturally, the wine list is impeccable; Little Rascal has a lo-fi, organic and biodynamic focus. Make your selection with options to filter by whites, oranges, rosés, reds, sparklings, biodynamic, vegan, organic, natural, low SO2, and region. If that’s all a bit overwhelming, the friendly team at Little Rascal is more than happy to help pick one out for you. And if wine isn’t really your thing, they still carry a great selection of beers, ciders, cocktails, and spirits.

Little Rascal works with small independent producers and suppliers who make great wines in a sustainable way, meaning the wine on selection is continually rotating and hand-selected every time.

As for the menu, Little Rascal is a charcuterie-lover’s dream! The food menu has been meticulously curated to offer a pairing for any bottle of wine, following the same ethos of avoiding products with unnecessary chemicals, additives, and processes.

The menu is designed for sharing; think wine and platter evenings. From salted almonds and Gordal olives to Torres black truffle crisps and sourdough and butter, they’re just getting started. Cheeseboards start from £24 and come with crackers and cherry & amaretto jam and your preference of cheeses, which may include Shropshire Blue, Golden Cross soft goat’s milk, Prima Donna Maturo, and Baron Bigod. Or opt for the charcuterie boards with bread, oil, balsamic and cornichons, speck, Finocchiona Puntarella, and cherry smoked Caraway Kielbasa. Each is perfect to keep nibbling away at as you sip and chat in the welcoming wee bar.

For an out-of-the-box date night for wine newbies, or a more thoughtful evening for the experts, Little Rascal is the perfect spot to share a bottle. Open Tuesday through Saturday, you’ll find them at 113d St John’s Road, Edinburgh EH12 7SB. Be sure to book your table to guarantee your spot!
