Seven21 in Glasgow has rapidly become a standout destination for both coffee aficionados and fine dining enthusiasts. Situated at 721 Pollokshaws Road in Glasgow’s Southside Central, this versatile establishment operates as a specialty coffee shop during the day and transforms into a sophisticated restaurant offering a set tasting menu at night.
An enticing creative mash-up from Eighty Eight and Hinba Coffee Roasters has given us Seven21, giving the collaboration its legs to grow into one of Southside’s coolest wee spots.
Sleek and chic from the street, Seven21 oozes elegance. The welcoming front windows display pops of their warmly lit space, with friendly faces and happy diners filling the seats. During the day, this is the ideal place to pop in for a solo coffee or cosy catch-up, keeping you out of the cold winds and letting you melt away your troubles, even just for an hour or two. By night, this is a haven of romance and mystique, metamorphosing into an intimate evening dining space, curated almost perfectly for date night. Despite its small size, comfort is imminent here.
As for the food, chefs Adam Fell and David Cleary are at the helm, tackling the five-course tasting menu every lunch and dinner setting. Lunch offers a slightly lighter fare that often includes four courses (£20) of dishes such as a refreshing ceviche, artisanal sandwiches, and an array of freshly baked pastries. While dinner is a multi-course affair (£35) that may start with an amuse-bouche, followed by several courses such as a delicate fish course, a robust meat dish, and a sophisticated dessert to finish.
The evening set menu, which changes regularly to reflect seasonal produce and Seven21’s culinary innovation, has garnered widespread acclaim, highlighting the fact you can have five excellent courses for just £35 – an unheard of deal in this day and age. The kitchen offers both a standard and a vegetarian tasting menu, each featuring a series of meticulously crafted dishes that emphasise flavour, presentation, and creativity.
Highlights from recent menus include dishes such as a delectable wild garlic and nettle soup, a perfectly balanced venison loin with beetroot variations, courgette and basil focaccia with raclette honey butter, nduja puttanesca tagliolini with olives, capers, boquerone, and a rhubarb and pistachio pavlova with house clotted cream and crème anglaise for a sweet finish.
The vegetarian menu, equally impressive, showcases the versatility of vegetables with dishes such as their roasted cauliflower with miso and hazelnut, pea watercress agnolotti with lemon, hazelnut butter, and broad bean, spiced cauliflower with saffron apricot, smoked aubergine, and courgette, and finishing with their lemon parfait with poached rhubarb, pistachio and meringue.
To really make it a night to remember, you can add a wine pairing to your menu for just £30!
With innovation and freshness at the forefront of everything they do, Seven21 is revolutionising dining out with their fine-dining experience at a remarkably reasonable price. Frequently praised for exceptional service, the quality and creativity of the food, and the overall dining experience, has diners returning time and time again to experience all that they have to offer.
