The perfect places to eat out in autumn in Bristol
Starting to notice that your need for al fresco dining is beginning to shrink and the want for a warm, cosy night in grows? With autumn fast approaching and the seasons soon changing, we at Dish Cult have created the perfect guide for all things autumnal and foodie in Bristol. Think cosy, think hygge.
Bokman is a delicious venue serving up brilliant Korean dishes that feed and warm your soul. Think warm and filling dumplings, killer ramen as well as a great range of vegan options, too. Open Tuesday to Saturday, evenings only, this is a perfect autumnal date night dinner out.
Nothing is quite as warming as Indian food, making Thali an ideal colder season venue. Known for “award winning, ethical and sustainable Indian food”, it couldn’t be any better. Think healthy dishes, packed full of flavour, all in a super lush atmosphere. Originally having started as a food truck at Glastonbury Festival – which we love – Thali has grown and gone from strength to strength. Its principles are strong, using locally sourced, free range, seasonal produce as much as possible.
Adelina Yard is a gorgeous fine dining venue that’s perfect for a special occasion. With a relaxed atmosphere, and making its own butter, bread and cured meats in-house, we love it here. You’ll find a modern European menu serving stunning plates, as well as an eight course tasting menu available on Wednesday and Thursday nights. This is a sophisticated yet relaxed venue, and tables are in high demand, so we strongly recommend booking in advance.
A hearty Italian venue with a gorgeous wine list to pair with the food, Bianchis is a truly Northern Italian restaurant. Inspired by an extensive family history in hospitality, you are guaranteed good food, service and wine here. Using produce that is sourced as locally as possible, the menu is delicious. Think fresh fish and stunning pastas paired with the perfect wine, ideal on a chilly autumn night. Bianchis also offers a two or three course Sunday lunch menu, which is perfect for a family gathering.
Looking for a hearty, meat filled meal? Mugshot is the one for you! This 1920s venue is super close to St Nicholas Market and has a stunning interior that is perfect for a cosy autumn night. Serving steak on a hot stone so that you are able to cook your food just as you like it, everyone can be happy here. If you want to carry on the night but it’s too cold to walk overly far, you can always continue onto Mugshot’s secret cocktail bar, The Library.
The ideal seasonal, independent eatery. The menu here changes weekly, which is super exciting as we come into the change in season, meaning the food is always new and different. Matching the food with a gorgeous range of organic wines, Wilsons is an ideal foodie venue. With sustainability at the forefront of the team’s mind here, they even grow a lot of their own produce on their own land, 20 miles away from the restaurant. You can’t get much more sustainable and local than that!Â
Farrington Park is the ideal spot after an autumn country walk for a delicious hot chocolate and cake to warm up, or a cheeky pint to rest those hard worked legs. Found on the golf course on Farrington Park, the surrounding views are stunning, making this bar the perfect place to watch the seasonal colours change as the months become colder. A proper West Country venue, the vibe here is relaxed with sofa seating as well as an outside area, serving everything from avocado toast to Sunday roasts. Ideal for friend catch ups and family lunches.
We love this contemporary bistro. Chew Kitchen serves classic British dishes with a seasonal, locally produced menu. Found in the Chew Valley, this is another gorgeous venue surrounded by fantastic autumnal walks. Here you will find cracking food as well as a friendly team. We absolutely love the steak plates here, as well as the delicious homemade cakes. A proper country venue, serving high quality food from breakfast through to dinner, run by a husband and wife team.
We love this steak restaurant, as well as its sister venue found in Clifton. Serving the highest standard locally sourced meat cuts, the vibes are sophisticated and relaxed at The Cow & Sow. Perfect for a special occasion, date night or quality time, this place is a meat lover’s dream. Being located so close to the theatre in Bristol too, it’s a great venue for a pre-theatre dinner. We also love the small plate selection, which is ideal for larger parties who fancy some ox cheek and cheddar croquettes alongside signature cocktails such as The Dirty Cow Martini.
