A spotlight on Dublin's Forest Avenue

Welcome to Forest Avenue, a charming family-run Irish neighbourhood dining room. Found in the heart of Dublin city, right by the canal on Sussex Road, Forest Avenue is the brainchild of  John and Sandy Wyer – a culinary power-couple run by passion. Designed with diners in mind, the restaurant’s aim is to include you in the experience.

The space at Forest Avenue has been deliberately created to be warm and welcoming as if to be inviting you into their home, rather than a restaurant. The open-plan kitchen is the star of the show, giving every diner a front-row seat to the show. The bar is tucked into the side of the restaurant, with a private-dining 10-seat mezzanine overlooking the space. The decor is minimalistic, giving a comfortable and relaxed vibe, with exposed brick and navy velvet accentuating the plush dining chairs. By day, the natural light streams in sunrays, and by night the candlelit dinners add a touch of romance. For 5-star food served in a relaxing and unpretentious setting, Forest Avenue is the place.

Contemporary Irish fare is the name of the game; working closely with local farmers and producers to create a seasonally changing menu. Both the lunch and dinner offerings are set menus, so relinquish all power to the chefs, sit back, and be wowed. Though the menu is ever-changing depending on the freshest ingredients available, you can expect the likes of sea trout crudo with beetroot and blood orange, Forest Avenue’s homemade sourdough bread, onion velouté with lovage and sweet corn, cod with crab, rice, sauce of shellfish, and pumpkin kimchi, duck with asparagus, komatsuna, and fermented mushroom sauce, and toasted buckwheat ice cream with chocolate and cherry caramel from their latest menu.

Past standouts have also included linguini with sweetcorn and koji, truffle flatbread, bluefin tuna with organic tomato, plum, and smoked eel, a homemade black pudding sandwich with apple mustard, and celeriac remoulade, and crab pici with lemon and chilli.

Each menu item is thoughtfully curated, intending to highlight the freshness and flavour of their locally-sourced produce. The flavours are bold and memorable, with the dish remaining light and delicate. If you’re feeling daring, add on the wine pairing with your set menu for a fully indulgent experience.

A pillar of contemporary dining excellence in Dublin, the team at Forest Avenue has worked tirelessly to get to their successes today. The unique interactive experience, broad industry knowledge, and dedication to top-quality is their secret recipe to their culinary triumphs so far. For the ultimate romantic date night or a momentous celebration, you can’t look past a meal at Forest Avenue.

Open Wednesdays through to Saturdays for lunch to dinner, you’ll find them at 8 Sussex Terrace, Sussex Road, Dublin 4. Make sure to reserve your spot!
